Quartzites are hard metamorphic rocks resistant to most acids. Quartzites are available in slabs and tiles with cleaved or planed surfaces. Reaction to acids and weather is mainly due to other impurities in the materials which is a negligible percentage. The materials described below are sold as quartzites in India. However, they may not be known as quartzites geologically.
